Travelbase organises adventure trips for more than 60,000 travellers a year. From hikes and road trips to surf camps and wilderness camps: nature and adventure are always at the heart of what they do. The organisation employs around a hundred team members at its office and continues to grow.
For various glamping sites in countries including Spain, France and Sweden, Travelbase was looking for a supplier who not only provides high-quality tents but can also respond flexibly to specific requirements. They found that partner in OSSO. We spoke to Taco Smit, co-founder and director of Travelbase, about how this partnership began and how he experiences it.

The start of the partnership
The partnership between Travelbase and OSSO began in 2020. At a glamping site in Spain, Travelbase discovered mould in the tents from another supplier. This made them decide to start looking for tents that were more resistant to mould. Through previous contact, they came across OSSO.
“We could see straight away that they use a different type of fabric then other suppliers. That gave us the confidence to choose their tents,” says Taco. It turned out to be the right decision: “OSSO’s tents are highly resistant to mould. Ultimately, some mould does develop, but it takes much longer than with other tents.”
Over 300 tents across Europe
Travelbase now has around 300 OSSO tents, spread across locations throughout Europe: from surf camps in France and Spain to a wilderness camp in Sweden. Taco: “At these campsites, we mainly have bell tents in various styles, but also safari tents, such as the Stratus. These tents can stay pitched all year.
Some of the tents are tailor-made. At a campsite in Spain, we had pitches measuring 3.5 metres. The standard 3-metre size would have fit there, but we wanted to make the most of the space for our guests. By opting for tailor-made tents, we were able to achieve this. That’s really cool.”
A great partnership with room for growth
Taco really enjoys working with OSSO: “The partnership is great, as is the personal contact with their team. They’ve always been very helpful, even when things go wrong – because that does happen sometimes. That’s why, for new projects involving tents, we always include OSSO in our considerations from the outset.”
Given the impressive growth Travelbase is experiencing, we hope that many more exciting projects will follow for which we can supply tents. That way, we can make lots of campers happy together!
